The main landmarks around Interlaken are quite natural and quite breathtaking. Jungfrau mountain is one such structure and provides an appealing backdrop to the town, along with the adjacent mountains of Eiger and Mönch. Located either side of the town, Lake Brienz and Lake Thun offer a variety of cruises, with everything from sailing boats to paddle steamers being on offer. Head to the very heart of Interlaken at the Hohematte demonstrates everything that is good about a public park, being filled with flowers and seating, and offering superb mountain views. Although the town of Interlaken is actually be known for its scenery and mountain-related attraction, there are several good museums here. The Tourist Museum is amongst the most popular of these and documents the history of the Jungfrau's booming tourism industry, with information about its rise to fame. For families, both the miniature trains at the Model Railway Exhibition and the thousands of Teddy bears at Teddyland will be of interest. Tourists regularly enjoy day trips to tourists cities such as Basel, Lucerne and Berne, the bustling Swiss capital. If you are prepared for an early start, day trips to Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich are even possible, while closer to hand are countless mountain villages, such as Brienz, Gimmelwald, Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen.
